I've spent some time getting to 'know' my Quartet Kapture Digital Flipchart Starter Kit in order to give an honest, knowledgeable review and the end result is - I love it!! This is one of the greatest inventions EVER; in my opinion, of course!
The first thing you have to do is familiarize yourself with the entire kit. Install the Kapture software and read and/or print out the User Manual. It is extremely detailed including 'how-to' pictures on practically every page. It is very readable and easy to follow and includes the using of color-coded numbers to pictures which I personally found very helpful.
The system can be used with up to 4 digital marker pens. Each marker pen accepts disposable dry-erase cartridges of either red, blue, green or black ink.

I am posting a review for the initial start-up of using this product. My husband and I will be using it in earnest for teaching a Confirmation class in the winter. After that experience, I will post a more in-depth review of using this product.
For now, I can tell you it was extremely easy to figure out. There are detailed instructions, which I am happy for. I love details. Never assume the person reading the instructions will "just know" certain things. The pen popped right together in a logical manner. I had no trouble installing the software. I did struggle to get the pen recognized until I realized I had not read the instructions fully. Re-reading them, I saw my mistake and the pen was instantly recognized. I attached the notepad to an easel and whatever I wrote appeared instantly on the screen of my laptop. My 9-year-old-son was amazed.
I believe this will be a useful tool for teaching. Whenever I do a poetry seminar, I come home and end up typing up the... Read more

We are working on a creative project and writing on this big piece of digital magic seemed to impress him. As I was writing down suggestions he was able to see the pen strokes happen on the computer in real time. After our meeting I told him I would email him a PDF of what we had written down. I feel like using a tool like this fosters the air of professionalism and a solid grasp on new technology.
Now to get the thing set up was very easy to understand because the quick start is pretty much 6 pictures. Once I got it set up it worked great. It does use this little plastic card that helps calibrate the Digital Pen and also allows you to pick the color of ink that will register on the computer. (So don't lose that card!) After you're done writing on the pad it's very easy to export to a PDF. There are only 2 root menus. (FILE and EDIT) A very simple and easy to... Read more
